Mark Cannon is a partner with the law firm of Cannon Law Offices, LLC where he focuses his law practice in the areas of estate planning, probate and trust administration, business formation and succession planning, business contracts and transactions and real estate law.

Mark received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Analysis from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business in 1986. After graduating from IU, Mark worked for Northwestern Mutual Life as a Special Agent, where he first gained invaluable experience client counseling, insurance, and estate planning. After leaving Northwestern Mutual, Mark graduated from the University of Louisville, School of Law in 1994, where he earned Dean’s List recognition five times. After graduation, Mark started his legal career at the Indiana Department of Revenue as an Inheritance Tax Attorney, where he audited inheritance tax returns for three years. Mark then moved on to RJ Pile, a local Public Accounting firm, where he was the driving force behind the newly created Estate and Gift Tax Specialty Group. His primary work at RJ Pile was recommending and analyzing estate, gift, and income tax planning strategies for high net worth clients. Before going into practice on his own, Mark was the lead attorney Timpe Legal Services, LLC’s probate, estate and business planning practice area for over six years.

Mark has been a speaker at numerous seminars, including “Advanced Estate Planning Techniques in Indiana”; “Key Issues in Estate Planning & Probate in Indiana”; “Probate Process from Start to Finish”; "Top 10 Practice Tips for Young Lawyers & General Practitioners -- Estate Planning and Administration"; "Advanced Issues in Probate for the Paralegal in Indiana"; and "RJ Pile Tax Update Seminars”.

Mark was admitted to the Indiana Bar, the United States Southern District for Southern Indiana on October 31, 1994 and the Supreme Court of the United States on May 13, 2002. Mark is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association, where he is a member of the Probate, Trust and Real Property Section, Elder Law and Business Law Sections. Mark is also a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association’s Estate Planning and Administration and Business Law Sections. He is a former member of the Estate Planning Council of Indianapolis, Inc. Mark currently serves as the Mentor Coordinator of the Indy North Chapter of Business Networking International and has previously served as President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, Education Coordinator and on the Membership Committee.

Mark is also active in the community. Mark started the Estate Planning Ministry and led a men’s bible study group Northview Christian Church in Carmel, Indiana. Mark also volunteers for the American Cancer Society by participating in the Relay for Life. Mark attended the American Cancer Society Indiana Lobby Day and the ACS CAN Leadership Summit and Lobby Day in Washington D.C. in 2011, 2012 and 2013, where he lobbied our legislators in issues related to the prevention and cure of cancer, including more funding for cancer research and prevention programs. In 2013, Mark was awarded the IN/MI Heart award for dedicated service to advocacy and the fight against cancer while serving as an ACT Lead Community Cancer Advocate for Hamilton County. Mark was previously matched as a Big Brother for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana for five years. Mark formerly served on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer for the Indianapolis Ambassadors, Inc., a local charitable supporting organization. Mark lives in Brownsburg with his lovely wife, Kirsten, their three children (Evan, Ryan and Grace) and five rescued dogs.
